Lawsuit to be argued before Vermont Supreme Court on 9/25

The former Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and landscape remain intact for the time being and the case is now going to be argued before the Vermont Supreme Court.

Last year a group of Burlington residents filed a lawsuit in state court against the city for its approval of a demolition permit for the property. A court-ordered stay of demolition has protected the property while the case made its way through the court system.

On Wednesday, September 25, at 1:30 PM the Vermont Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case.

If you’re in the area and are able to attend the hearing, you’re encouraged to show your support. A good showing will communicate to the justices that there is broad interest in the preservation of this property.

Public testimony will not be taken at the hearing, but your presence is important. Please share this information with anyone else who may be interested in attending the hearing.

The Vermont Supreme Court is located at 111 State Street in Montpelier. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the hearing (1:15 PM).
