About Us

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to preserve and protect the historic architecture and livability of Burlington through education and advocacy.

Programs

  • We offer a variety of proprietary tours during the summer months, such as the Pine Street Tour and the Waterfront Tours. Check our calendar for scheduling info or drop us a note if you’d like to schedule a custom tour for your group.

  • Every year we offer a glimpse into the lives of Burlington’s forebears by leading tours through one or more of our historic cemeteries. We’ve even been known to do it in character, really bringing some distinct personalities vividly to life!

  • An annual event on the first Saturday in June, the Preservation Burlington Homes Tour highlights Burlington’s residential architecture and allows participants rare access to private homes.

Preservation Burlington’s biggest annual fundraising event, the tour is self-guided with the help of numerous volunteers the community. Tour proceeds go towards our many other educational programs. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at the Flynn Center Box Office in May of each year (www.flynntix.org). Tickets are not available for purchase at any of the homes.

  • On the fourth Thursday of every month, catch us on CCTV.org’s Live at 5:25 segment. Hosts Ron Wanamaker and Liisa Reimann welcome a variety of guests to share their insights into local history.

  • Through our Annual Award Program we recognize projects that represent outstanding efforts in preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or reconstruction. In doing so, we seek to promote continued efforts in heritage preservation as well as highlight its benefits. The program also recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the betterment of our community life.

The bulk of Preservation Burlington’s work is done in committee, and we’re always looking for new energy. Take a look through the following committee descriptions, and drop us a note if you’d like to attend a meeting to get a feel for it.
